looking for a solitaire that transcends eras and manages to be both geometric and rustic all at once? this piece is a wonder! the center hexagon circa 1920-ish features an older diamond full of sparkle set in a white gold topped hexagonal setting that would have originally been the top of a stick or hat pin. many decades later, circa 1950, someone had the hexagonal setting transformed into a stackable, whimsical, ring.
the hexagonal setting sits atop a mid century sturdy d-shaped band that's midway between thin and wide, and the hexagon is flanked by sturdy leafy shoulders, which overlap with the hexagon. the result is a truly one of a kind rustic, classic, sturdy ring that has plenty of handmade quirks, which give it a charming vibe. And yes, because the leaves and hexagon sit atop the band it's a good candidate for stacking with low profile bands

this piece was hand constructed from a band, the top of a stick or hat pin, and leafy components. the hand construction optimized for sturdiness over precision, and so the under gallery of the setting could be described as messy. quirks to look for:
-hard-to-reach patina in the recessed details of the underside of the setting
-minor bends in the bottom walls of the hexagonal setting
-the hexagonal setting is not perfectly level with the band it sits atop, which can give the appearance of being slightly crooked
the diamond has minor surface wear, but no chips or cracks or noteworthy scratches
this is a vintage item and will show surface scratches, dents, dings, dulling, wear, patina, and signs of having been worn and loved
