this is an antique gambling piece from a larger set that dates to the late 18th to mid 19th century (ahem: a true antique) made in China and exported throughout much of Europe for fancy folks and their fancy gambling. much much after these fell out of use as gambling chips a few different jewelry designers have crafted 14k frames for the gambling pieces, transforming them into wearable tokens of luck and loss. the hinged bail also has purpose — intended to clip onto a string of pearls — or really onto anything

this is a genuine antique gambling chip made out of carved mother of pearl (shell) and as it was once in circulation there are minor chips along its edges and surface scratches throughout
14k frame is vintage and has plenty of time-earned patina as this piece hasn't been worn in a long while
prongs are securely holding the chip in place
