abalone cabochon is a piece of natural shell that is unbacked and not coated. care must be taken to avoid damaging the shell with strong acids, bases, and abrasion — it is a standard/calibrated size, so it would be easy to replace it in the future if need be
two solder seams at the base of the band from a previous sizing
prongs and bezel setting were just rehabbed and offer a snug fit for the abalone
the milgrain engraved design details accenting the shoulders are surprisingly crisp for their age
plenty of time-earned patina, scratches and scuffs
this is a vintage item and will show surface scratches, dents, dings, dulling, wear, patina, and signs of having been worn and loved
