as is true for earrings from the 1990s, the faces have a matte finish and the rays have a high shine, which offers extra visual contrast and depth
the latch backs are very snug, meaning that spring is so tight that in the closed position the watch touches the of the earring, which means that when worn the latch back does put pressure on the back of the ear. if you're sensitive to a squeezing sensation on the back of the ear you could have the latch backs removed by a jeweler and use a removable earring back instead. However, the latch back is a very secure closure, which prevents lost earrings, so it's a tradeoff between comfort and loss likelihood
you could also wear the latch back 'down' and potentially hang charms off the loop if that's your flavor
