simple and sweet 14k gold flat heart shaped locket circa Y2k era, but heavily inspired by sweetheart lockets of the 1940s.
it's a versatile size that's large enough for a photo, but small enough to be described as 'dainty' without much argument
the front and back are unadorned, but not thick enough for engraving unless the engraving was shallow and done with a machine engraver. despite having time-earned scratches, dents, and dings it still has a mirror-like quality, which makes it very difficult to photograph without catching every reflection in the room

when it arrived it had some spotty patina, which is likely from inconsistencies in the gold used to cast the components of the locket and that spotty patina may return. the locket has been gently hand polished and further polishing decisions are left to the buyer. there's a variation in hue throughout the locket, ranging from true yellow near the edges to slightly more pink — it's hard to tell if this is from the gold in the locket or stubborn time-earned patina. the variations in hue are not very noticeable when worn
