it's safe to assume that this piece has many stories it isn't telling us. how old is this carved bead? is it stone or faience? maybe stone? is the epoxy in the bead's hole to prevent the gold bail from spinning? probably. is that Horus carved on the beetle's back? likely!

bead without bails measures ~24.4mm x ~18.9mm x ~12.55mm

new oval jump ring bail is not soldered shut and has an inner opening measurement of ~4.9mm x ~3.2mm

weighs 8.8 (mostly from the scarab bead)

C O N D I T I O N 

in good vintage condition

-new jump ring bail
-wire bail through the bead is stabilized with jeweler's epoxy that is now aged enough that it has yellowing
-scarab has some minor surface scratches and cracks that blend in with the carving
-uneven patina throughout the wire bail/setting through the stone

this is a vintage item and will show surface scratches, dents, dings, dulling, wear, patina, and signs of having been worn and loved
