it's a rare treat to find a piece of jewelry where the stone and the setting are equal works of art and where the sum of the components truly is greater than its parts
this ring is a wearable exploration of what it means to be soft, fierce, imaginative, and magic via a free-form, organic 14k yellow gold ring that once featured a sapphire in a tall prong setting, and has been reworked with a fancy, one-of-a-kind round diamond with a five point star illusion. do you see that the stone sits in a freeform navette shape so that the stone's placement is reminiscent of an eye?
the cut of the diamond is a fancy cut, sold by a diamond dealer as 'rose cut' yet, it's somewhere between a single cut and a rose cut — the top is faceted similar to a single cut diamond, but it's a shallow pavilion — definitely a stone cutter's project to see if they could facet the pavilion to create the illusion of a five point star floating in the diamond. it isn't a particularly clear or colorless stone, but it is definitely a reminder of the connection between earth, sky, and everything in between, and it sparkles in both rainbows and it seems to have generous fluorescence. if you're a crystal girly this might be your vibe, if you're a diamond perfectionist this isn't the stone for you.

measures just over size 7.25 on a sizing mandrel, but fits more like a size 6.5+ because of the width and flat back of the setting and band. this ring is easily sizable within reason
setting measures ~12.5mm north to south on the finger (that's a lot of finger coverage!)
stone measures 4mm across and ~1.25mm tall and is estimated at 0.15 carat — this diamond was a stone cutter's project and does not come with paperwork
prong setting rises ~3.45mm off the finger

C O N D I T I O N
in good reworked vintage condition
the ring lost its 14k mark to time/sizings, but it's definitely solid 14k, verified by both xrf and acid testing
there's a faint solder seam from a previous sizing
the prong setting is white gold, and the prongs were cut down and re-tipped to fit the current stone, which means that each tip was hand finished and they aren't perfectly uniform, because they're hand formed
the stone is new and free from damage, but it may have minor surface imperfections original to its stone cutting story. there are plenty of inclusions in the stone that reveal themselves when the light and angle are just right
this is a vintage item and will show surface scratches, dents, dings, dulling, wear, patina, and signs of having been worn and loved
