love the look of vintage and antique watch chains, but don't want the hassle of finding an original chain without problematic quirks? voila! a solution that's both old and new

a chunky rope chain has been re-worked with new clasps reminiscent of a watch chain — a new clasp in the style of a dog clip clasp, but without the swivel feature, and a new sailor clasp. 

an extra large sailor clasp was chosen so that the dog clip can fit through the clasp, which offers the option of styling this chain with a pendant in a lariat style

26" long unclasped, slightly shorter when clasped

rope chain is ~5mm wide

dog clip style clasp measures ~23.8mm long — for a pendant's bail to fit onto this clasp the inner diameter must be at least 2.25mm

round sailor clasp measures ~17mm — for a pendant's bail to fit onto this clasp the inner diameter must be at least 4.25mm

weighs 46.8g(!!)

C O N D I T I O N 

in good reworked vintage condition

the rope chain is chunky and sturdy, and is solid sterling silver with a higher copper content — it was sourced with deep tarnish and green verdigris patina. most of the tarnish and patina have been cleaned off, but further polishing decisions would require some determination and chemistry

bail and jump ring between the clasps and the chain are NOT soldered shut, but are a thick, sturdy gauge

clasps are new and have minimal wear

this is a reworked vintage item and will show surface scratches, dents, dings, dulling, wear, patina, and signs of having been worn and loved
